“This is part of a series of female Buddhas. For some time, I was very much interested in Buddhism. I liked the idea of representing women as Buddhas. I also very much related to Buddhist iconography which is very intricate. And I appreciate the idea – shared in Buddhism and Hinduism – that painting is a form of meditation.”
