YOLO is an idea born in the post-pandemic era, from the desire of a group of international Entrepreneurs, driven by enthusiasm and fascinated by elegance, to propose something original and extravagant. Willing to go against the tide, it was decided to move unconventionally: by tracing anomalies and dysfunctionalities pertaining to objects of everyday life, exalting their versatility and their value. The partnership between two excellences, YOLO and the jewelry house Boite d'Or, has allowed the creation of a truly unique object of its kind.

Trusted travel companion

The art of decorating trunks in the 18th century was a refined expression of craftsmanship and social status. Trunks, in addition to being practical containers for travel and for storing precious objects, were considered real pieces of furniture, often personalized and decorated with precious materials. Materials such as ivory, mother-of-pearl, bone, metal and wood of different essences, even precious stones, were often used to create inlays and decorative motifs. Bows were often associated with happy events and celebrations, such as weddings, births and holidays, but they were also used to embellish clothes, hats and accessories, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication.

We propose a refined object to hang on the bag or keep inside it, inspired by these ancient eighteenth-century artisan practices used by those who traveled around the world acccompanied with their precious trunks.

“Il Charm” is entirely handmade using the highest quality materials and it’s protected by a pouch in precious lambskin.

Both the two items composing “Il Charm”, the small comb and the mirror structure, are realized in cellulose acetate.

The mirror is embellished with Rose Gold 18KT and studded with n. 42 Natural Diamonds, Color F (extra white +), Clarity VS (10X), for a total of 0.38 carats.

“Il Charm” by YOLO is a precious and delicate object, a precious ally of feminine charm, which deserves the right conservation. All the materials of which the object is made require care and attention.

 

External agents: chemicals / temperature / brightness / humidity

The cellulose acetate and the precious stones composing “Il Charm” are materials sensitive to chemical substances. In contact with alcohols, aromatic hydrocarbons or chlorinated solvents there is a swelling or a loss of the plastic characteristics of the acetate, which is soluble in ketones. Strong mineral acids and bases, pure or concentrated oxidizing salts can cause chemical degradation of all components. Due to its chemical nature, cellulose acetate shows a sensitive tendency to absorb water. The water content, in fact, plays a significant role on the physical and mechanical properties of this material. A high water content can greatly increase the impact resistance but makes the material softer, decreasing its thermal resistance. Sudden heating or cooling of the valuable materials used can cause superficial and/or structural damage. Storage at room temperature is recommended. The suggested environmental humidity, for correct conservation of “Il Charm”, is between 40% and 60%. A humidity higher than 60% risks deforming the object; on the other hand, a humidity lower than 40% increases the fragility of the object and favours drying phenomena. A situation of extreme drying can cause structural fragility. “Il Charm” should never be stored for long periods of time in environments where the temperature is higher than 24°C. Prolonged exposure to temperatures above 24°C could favor deformation phenomena. Temperatures below 14°C could instead favour phenomena of fragility. “Il Charm” should never be exposed to excessive irradiation, as light is susceptible to raising temperatures and altering the physical state of the object. Prolonged direct exposure to sunlight or permanence in environments with intense and continuous irradiation can give rise to discoloration and deformation of the object.

 

Cleaning and conservation

Contact of the object with hot or boiling water can cause surface bleaching or discoloration. For proper cleaning, we recommend the use of warm water and glycerin, possibly neutral soap. It is recommended to keep “Il Charm” as far as possible inside its precious leather case.

Sale items are non-refundable unless faulty. Customized items cannot be exchanged or refunded.

Orders are processed within 1-3 business days and shipped via trusted carriers. Delivery times vary based on location and shipping method selected. Customers will receive tracking information once the order has been shipped. We are not responsible for delays caused by carriers. Free shipping is available for orders over CHF 200.--.

Shipping costs vary according to the total amount of the order and the delivery destination. Preparation and packaging costs are free. We recommend you to group all your items in a single order. We cannot combine two orders placed separately and shipping fees apply to each of them.
